See How Students Transform Neo-Gothic Architecture Into Stunning Fashion During This Exhibit

The Old State Capitol educates the public on rich Louisiana history and the democratic process through exhibits, programming, and the arts. Now, Louisiana's Old State Capitol has a special architectural exhibit in store for the community! This Saturday, don’t miss “Architecturally Inspired: Fashion Celebrating The Old State Capitol,” on display beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The renowned neo-gothic architecture of Louisiana’s Old State Capitol is the focus of the museum’s latest exhibition, “Architecturally Inspired: Fashion Celebrating the Old State Capitol.” During the exhibit, artists will display wearable creations inspired by the various architectural elements of the old statehouse, from its brilliant stained-glass dome to the quatrefoil pattern throughout the building.

Artists from Louisiana State University’s Department of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising, School of Theatre and School of Art and Design will display their handmade creations and will include a statement on the inspiration behind their designs. The exhibit will also feature historic pieces from LSU’s Textile and Costume Museum.

Louisiana's Old State Capitol is a museum of political history governed by the Louisiana Secretary of State and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The museum's multimedia history exhibits engage visitors in an interactive exploration of the events and people that contributed to Louisiana's story, while the award-winning "Ghost of the Castle" show explores the tumultuous history of the building, our greatest artifact. The museum also serves as a venue for press conferences, traveling exhibits, special programs, and an annual lecture series.

“Architecturally Inspired” will be on display through September 7. For more information, contact Brooke Goodrich at 225-342-0500 or visit www.louisianaoldstatecapitol.org.
