Established in 1973, The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge endeavors to promote cultural growth, economic development, and educational enhancement through the arts in the 11-parish region that it serves. This summer, the Council continues this mission with adult hip-hop classes held throughout the month of July! Check it out this Wednesday, July 10th, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
During this series, classes will explore themes and styles that pay homage to hip-hop culture. Every dancer, beginner or advanced, can come and challenge themselves in a judgement-free space that welcomes all backgrounds, genders, shapes, and sizes.
Each class will be instructed by Terreze Williams. Terreze is a dancer, choreographer, and artist from Baton Rouge. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts with a concentration in dance at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She began her dancing career at McKinley Senior High, Debbie Allen Summer Intensive in Los Angeles, and River North Dance Chicago Summer Intensive.
In 2018, Terreze directed and produced PROCESS, which debuted at 'That Rent Party!' in New Orleans. She is now working with Manship Theatre and Art Council of Greater Baton Rouge as a teaching artist. Some of her recent credits include: Ebb and Flow Festival, Jazz Jubilee, and Hair: The Musical. Film credits include Girl's Trip, NCIS, Claws and Happy Death Day 2.
Shake your stuff at hip-hop dance class on Wednesday! Each class is $15 and can be paid for before the class begins. For more information, visit www.artsbr.org.
